UV GLS culminates its first Moot Court Competition

Press Release, Amid the pandemic and the online classes, the Public International Class batch 2021- 2022 successfully brought about the first UV GLS Moot court competition on July 30, 2022.

The competition was participated by two teams, each composed of four oralists. The oralists were Raniel Llauderes, Dorothy Therese Ortega, Valora France Miral Aranas, and Cesar Clinton Villaflor for the Applicant Team. Merit Adrian Dela Victoria, Rey Malvin Pallomina, Keisha Marie Bacalla, and Angel Flor Narvasa for the Respondent Team.

The excellent panel who graced this competition composed of Atty. Eunice S. Baliong and Atty. Justein Redoble, both of whom are renowned mooters and debaters. Rounding up the excellent panel was Atty. Tess Marie Tan, the UV GLS Public International Law professor, who epitomized the very essence and image of a mooting world champion.

The excitement in each student was evident as everyone was excited to see each other face-to-face for the first time. Students living outside metro Cebu came from Singapore, Samar, Leyte, Butuan, Marawi, Negros, and Bohol to witness this monumental event. It became more special as the UV GLS beloved Dean Atty. Joseph Randi Torregosa took time off his busy schedule and joined this historical event.

The competition ended with the Applicant team winning the First UV GLS- Public International Law Moot Court Competition which also won the Best Memorial. Oralists Raniel Llauderes and Merit Adrian Dela Victoria won Best Applicant Oralist and Best Respondent Oralist, respectively. Raniel Llaudere winning the Best Overall Oralist. The event topped off with a delectable dinner prepared by the organizing committees.

The event was a huge success. Thanks to students of the Public International class, organizing committees, sponsors, and the guidance of their class team leader, Mr. Chang Euldan, with the supervision of their professor Atty. Tess Marie Tan.

As the event was a success, GLS looks forward to organizing its first Mooting Society and preparing to produce its world champions in the International mooting competition field!

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
