The University of the Philippines Cebu (UPC) is the champion of this year's State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) VII Regional Games as announced today, January 31, during the closing ceremony held at Cebu Normal University (CNU) Main Campus.
UP Cebu achieved a total of 186 medals, with 119 gold, 41 silver, and 26 bronze.
In an interview, UP Cebu's Chancellor Atty. Leo Malagar shared that their experience in the games has played a significant role in the university's rise to the top.
"We have made a lot of sacrifices, our trainings have improved, and our players are more disciplined now," he added.
Meanwhile, Cebu Technological University (CTU) trailed behind as the first runner-up, followed by Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), Cebu Normal University (CNU), Bohol Island State University (BISU), Siquijor State College (SSC), and the Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA) as the second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth runner-ups, respectively.
Centered on the theme "Panaghiusa: Fostering Unity and Embracing New Beginnings Through Sports," the SCUAA VII Regional Games 2025 lasted six days from January 26 to 31.
The next SCUAA VII Regional Games is set to take place in Bohol, according to CNU President Dr. Daniel Ariaso. ยง
