SLSU gets P24.5-M funding from CHED for flexible learning project, upgraded connectivity

MAASIN CITY (PIA) -- The Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) received funding assistance from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to finance a project dealing with improved flexible learning schemes, as well as establishing a level-up network infrastructure and multimedia center.

The project, entitled “Establishment of SLSU’s Enterprise Network Infrastructure and Multimedia Centers for an Improved Flexible Learning Management System Implementation,” got a funding grant of P24,568,110 through the CHED’s Smart Campus Development Program.

It was learned that funding for the project was sourced from Republic Act 11494, the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act, where 3 billion pesos was earmarked to assist state universities and colleges in coping with methods of teaching, mostly technology-driven, in this time of the lingering Covid pandemic

According to an SLSU press statement provided to PIA, “the project helps to connect all six SLSU campuses to work as one network.”

“It is an intervention that will lay down the foundation and support to the University’s ongoing initiatives to successfully implement the Flexible Learning Management System in which the existing cloud-hosted LMS serves all nine colleges across the campuses,” the statement said.

Dr. Prose Ivy Yepes, university president, together with Dr. Juanita Costillas, vice president for executive operations and external affairs, participated in the ceremonial Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing Thursday, June 24.

The signing was done in the presence of Dr. Prospero de Vera III, CHED chairperson, and other presidents from different state universities and colleges in the country.

Yepes expessed gratitude to the Duterte administration and all the champions of quality higher education in Congress.

“Thank you to Sir Popoy de Vera, SLSU’s governing board chaired by Commissioner Aldrin Darilag, and to the whole project team members,” Yepes said.  (LDL/MMP/PIA-8/Southern Leyte with  a report from SLSU)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
