Manila Bulletin

The Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) warned Friday 147 schools nationwide which offer nursing program but low in performance rating.

CHEd Commissioner Emmanuel Angeles said that the schools performed below the National Passing Rate of 46.14 percent for the past five years (2004-2008) in the nursing licensure examinations administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

“This is a wake-up call to our Nursing schools to shape out or phase out,” he warned.

Of the total number of schools, 22 schools are located in the National Capital Region (NCR). They are Arellano University-Manila, De Los Santos-STI College, De Ocampo Memorial College, Dominican College, Dr. Carlos S. Lanting College, Emilio Aguinaldo College, J.P. Sioson General Hospital and Colleges, La Consolacion College Manila, Las Piñas College, Martinez Memorial College, Mary Chiles College, Olivarez College, Perpetual Help College of Manila, Philippine College of Health Sciences, Philippine Rehabilitation Institute Foundation, Southeast Asian College, St. Jude College, St. Rita Hospital College of Nursing and School of Midwifery, The Family Clinic, Unciano Colleges and General Hospital, University of Perpetual Help Rizal, and World City Colleges, Quezon City.

Angeles said that these schools will be issued an initial warning from the Department to improve their nursing program through their graduates’ performance in the succeeding licensure examinations.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
