Congratulations De La Salle-College of St. Benilde's Center for Campus Art (CCA) director GerryTorres and crew for what is certain to be another stellar exhibition!
On exhibit from Oct. 14-Dec. 17, 2022 at the Design and Arts Campus, 12th Floor Gallery: the 62-piece VITRA Miniatures Collection of iconic furniture designed by the leading names in 19th and 20th-century architecture and design, spanning the entire history of industrial furniture design from Historicism, Art Noveaux, Bauhaus and Postmodernism, to the present.
At 1/6th the size of the originals, the chairs are true to scale and copied to the exact detail of construction, materials, and color.
The miniatures form part of the collection of the VITRA Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany founded in 1989 as an independent private foundation by former VITRA CEO Rolf Fehlbaum, son of VITRA founders Willi and Erika Fehlbaum. The 62 icons on exhibit were curated by CCA Director Gerry Torres.
Featured are legendary names in architecture and industrial design and their creations including Mies van der Rohe and the Barcelona Chair; Marcel Breuer and the Wassily; Charles and Roy Eames and the Lounge and Ottoman; George Nelson and the Marshmallow Sofa; and Gaetano Pesce and his La Mamma, among others in the lineup.
