Bohol Wisdom School Foundation Day
« on: December 17, 2007, 09:52:03 PM »
“Wander Wonderful” is this year’s theme for the Bohol Wisdom School Foundation Days that wowed the Boholano community with its majestic fairytale evening concert.

BWS commenced her grand December festivities with a colorful costume parade along C.P.G Avenue of this city on the 7th.

Spectators to the opening program at the school gymnasium were treated to a one of a kind fashion exhibition depicting 34 national costumes crafted out of recycled trash all in support to the World Environmental Preservation campaign. After the morning feat, the BWS family indulged in fun and games in an exclusive in-house Booth Fair salvo turning the campus into a leisure center for a full afternoon.
Not forgetting the BWS mission of serving the community, extensive outreach activities were conducted on December 7 and 8 by the College Department, Campus Ministry, Guidance Center, and Student Supreme Government Offices of the school.

Manga National High School was recipient of the book donation drive of the Elementary and College Departments, while Fatima High School of Cortes was the beneficiary of the Bundles of Joy program initiated by the High School students of BWS.

The best treat from the Bohol Wisdom School came on the evening of the 8th as she proudly presented the grand premiere of the Wander Wonderful dance spectacle. Opening the gala was a breath taking performance by a student talent who descended from the gymnasium roof by way of harness (courtesy of Habagat Outdoor Equipments) as she welcomed the audience to the one-and-a-half-hour mass dance demonstration special.

The venue was transformed into a fairytale land as timeless Walt Disney stories were showcased. Cited as best in props and one of the most grand was the first act Peter Pan by the Grade One where in main characters Peter Pan and Tinkerbell flew about in the gym by harness giving the piece an authentic rendition. Mary Poppins of the Grade Five and Cinderella of the Grade Two wowed the audience with their elegant costumes.  Aladdin of the Grade Four was most applauded with its well-choreographed piece and enchanting over-all appeal. Snow White of the Grade Three was appreciated as the most behaved presenters of the show while romantic Little Mermaid was most cheerful.

The China town rendition by the Second Years was judged most vibrant and colorful. Bringing the audience back to real world was the best musically scored Sweet Charity Broadway by the Fourth Years dubbed as the most creative for this year.

The Grade Six girls presented an impressive Classical Ballet performance giving them the citation as the most graceful group. The Acrobats of the Grade Six and Third year boys flaunted the athletic side of BWS.
The modern artists of the Glee Club and the Drum and Bugle Corps, the biggest participating group, gave full-blast Hip Hop and Pop performance at the later part of the show.

The College Department ,with the accompaniment of the selection of Grade One and Two as Ukelele Ensemble, rendered a choice act depicting Philippine Culture and Fashion that was applauded as the group with the most authentic costumes. Hailed as the Best Performance of the Year was the Third year’s West Side Story. And to top the dance special was an All Star Pinoy Big Brother inspired number by the BWS faculty.

This year’s Foundation Days in celebration of BWS’ 27th year is perhaps the most expensive production in her history as seen in the stage design, props, and talent costumes. “This is our biggest annual affair and we always want to make it grand for the BWS family. We are happy that Foundation Days 2007 was a success,” remarked Maria Socorro Navarrete, Administrative Head. A delayed telecast of the show and a BWS special was aired through BCCTV on December 15 in the evening.
