By the Bohol ChronicleRep. Edgar Chatto took action on Friday to finally solve the perennial water problem in Dauis town.
The solon met with Mayor Luciano Bongalos, Vice Mayor Jimmy Jimenez and the members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) together with Bohol Water Utilities, Inc. (BWUI) General Manager Romero Robles and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) District Engr. Celestino Adlaon.
During the meeting, immediate solutions were drawn up to solve the water problem in Dauis which, like its neighboring town
of Panglao, investments are projected to spread rapidly with tourism.
They identified the extent of project coverage, target priority areas and scopes of the upgrading and rehabilitation of the existing waterworks system.
The convergence of ideas climaxed in a surprise turnover by Chatto of the Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) worth P5 million to jumpstart the major improvement.
The allocation will largely augment the P1 million just advanced by the solon to the local government unit (LGU) to address the water concern, too.
Bongalos and Jimenez appreciated Chatto's effort because the limited resource of the LGU has been one stumbling block in solving the water problem.
New facilities like an additional water reservoir and new pipelines to allow greater supply volume and efficient distribution of water to as many outskirt households possible.
Robles assured that the BWUI can supply the growing demand while the LGU takes responsibility in water distribution.
