Press Release: The Philippines on Friday, July 9, 2021, received a shipment of over two million AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses from the COVAX facility.
The flight carrying 2,028,000 doses arrived at the NAIA Terminal 3 past 4 p.m. and was welcomed by Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., National Task Force against COVID-19 chief Implementer, Health Usec. Ma. Carolina Vidal-Taino, UNICEF Representative to the Philippines Oyunsaikhan Dendevnorov, USAID Mission Director Sean Callahan, World Health Organization Representative to the Philippines Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe, and Lotis Ramin, Country President of AstraZeneca Philippines.
This latest shipment brings the total number of AstraZeneca doses delivered to the Philippines to 5,708,100, of which 1,124,100 doses were donated by the Japanese Government, while the 4,584,000 doses came from the COVAX facility.
