These were the leaders of Corella during the Spanish time
in the late 1800's. The following were from Canangcaan:
Celedonio Sayon, Eusebio Calio. Juan Lagura, Mateo Lumain
Celestino Caliao and Eusebio Darunday because of their sur-
names. I can still remember that my great great grandmother
was Sayon, fathers bloodline and my grandmother was
Darunday, mothers bloodline.

They were called Don because they were most influential
people in the town during their times.

Corella was created into a municipality in 1885. The first mayor was Don
Lorenzo Tocmo. The first Tiniente of Canangcaan was Celedonio Sayon
commonly called Capitan Onsot.

The two past mayors of Corella Andro Tocmo and Dodong Tocmo were the
descendants of the first mayor. Hon. Vice Mayor Ondong Bolando would
have been the descendants of Don Matias Bolando.

The great leaders in the past were now the leaders today. History repeats
itself.

Tracing back the past, the following were the pioneer clans in Canangcaan, Corella:
Daray, Comidoy, Sayon, Ado, Malayao, Malanog, Caluba, Darunday, Mantica, Caliao
Lagura and Tapay. Most of these clans migrated in Mindanao since the early '40.
Whenever you can read names bearing with these surnames, you can say that
they were descendants of Corella Bohol.

Corella, the smallest town of Bohol was able to built a bigger town, New Corella in
Davao Province. Corellahanon are noted to be adventurous and harworking people.
They own big tracks of land in the new New COrella. They were the first migrants
who till the wide virgin forest until it become the new paradise. "This land which
I sweated most, then here I will die", according to Eyo Enong, the grand old man
of New Corella.

That's how , we fellow Boholanos here in this Land of Promise.

There's no more 6th Class town in Bohol

Sa DOF classification, my hometown Sikatuna is still a 5th Class Municipality.

Wala siya modawat kay dili man siya politiko ug tigulang na siya niadtong 1966. Ang unang apointed mayor mao si Hon. Prospero Amatong, kanhi nahimong governador sa Davao Province. Si Engr. Amatong maoy nag-abre sa dalan paingon sa New Corella tungod sa logging. Siya ang project manager sa logging in the early 1960 mao nga nakaabot ang karsada didto sa New Corella. Ang nahimong mayor nga taga Corella mao si Miguel Darunday, taga Poblacion Corella Bohol. Mahimong bise maayor si Yayong Mantica, taga Canangcaan. Daghan pang mga elected opisyals nga mga Bola-non. Sa Poblacion sa New Corella, 75% of the land were owned by Corellahanon. Sa nahimong nang municipality niadtong 1966, daghang mga Bisayan tribes misulod
ug karon nahimong nang usa ka mauswagong lungsod intermiggled with different Pilipino tribes.

Ang lungsod sa Corella ang pinakagamay nga lungsod sa Bohol.
Ang income annually dili gani makaabot sa 5th class mao nga
gihimoan na lang ug 6th class aron mahiapil sa lista. Kalooy..

Maayo nga magpasakop na lang sa Tagbailaran city.

bitaw, originally ang corella sakop na sa baclayon sa una. the adoption of the name corella was made at upon the prodding of friar jose maria caÃ±abas who was then the parish priest of baclayon and was also endorsed by friar felix gullen, the first spanish priest. corella was a name of a village in navarra, spain where the patroness of this town is nuestra seÃ±ora del villar showered her miracles. the creation of this town was due to the untiring efforts of its inhabitants notably pedro lumain, severo laoay, lorenzo darunday, pablo sayon, calixto vale and isidoro ramo. the first municipal captain of corella was isidoro ramo, who was followed by lorenzo tocmo who was also known as tan insoy, then followed by celedonio sayon also known as tan onsot, then followed by eusebio galio also known as tan Eboy, then leocadio mahinay aka tan ayong, then it was macario sinajon aka tan cario and the last was mateo lumain also known as tan teo. under the US administration there were people who were were elected as municipal presidents or mayors. they were pedro togonon, severino clarin who served for 8 yrs., nicanor tocmo who won 2 terms, tomas lumain who was not able to complete his term as he died during his reign who then was succeeded by lino aÃ±ong, nicanor tocmo won back office and served it from 1928 to 1932, catalino vale won 3 terms from 1933 till the 2nd world war broke out. he then became the puppet mayor for corella under the japanese rule.
