Rotary Club visits Corella, Bohol
« on: August 06, 2007, 10:26:17 AM »
True to its commitment of service above self, the Rotary Club of Tagbilaran conducted two humanitarian activities in the first half of Rotary Year 2007-2008 which started in the month of July this year.

On July 25, 2007, members of the club braved the rains and paid a surprise visit to the club's adopted school in barangay Tanday, Corella town. The teachers of Tanday showed delighted when their visitors distributed Rotary school bags, slippers and various school supplies to all the pupils.

Alarmed by the considerable increase of dengue cases in the province, the Rotary Club of Tagbilaran conducted a Mass Blood Letting activity on July 28, 2007 with donors coming from the CVSCAFT Tagbilaran Campus. They were ably assisted by the medical technologists who are members of the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET), Bohol Chapter and the staff of Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital.

With the Rotary International's theme of "Rotary Shares," the Rotary Club of Tagbilaran plans to pursue vigorously the Village Aide Program which is co-sponsored by Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) consisting of feeding program for the children and the elderly, home care, medication and hospitalization, vocational training, low-cost dwellings, providing safe water and scouting.

The Village Aide Program is now very well felt in the municipality of Panglao particularly Barangays Doljo and Danao; Songculan, Dauis; Casate, Ubay; Tanday, Corella and Bantolinao in Antequera, Bohol.

The new sets of officers for the Rotary Year 2007-2008 which is headed by its new club president, Rtn. Louella Gulle Bantol will be, formally, inducted into office on Aug. 19, 2007 in time for the visit of the chairman of the Rotary Foundation and Past Rotary International President Bhichai Rattakul and a group of Rotarians from Australia, headed by Past President Derek Pyrah.
