Barely three months from its inauguration and groundbreaking, the Land Administration and Management Project 2 (LAMP2-Bohol) is set to distribute more 80 land titles in the pilot site in the municipality of Corella.
It is in addition to the initial ten free patents released on the inauguration and groundbreaking day of the LAMP2-Bohol.
Of the 80 free patents, 56 were actually released with 39 claimants composed of 20 males and 19 females, during a ceremony November 29 at the Corella Public Market, in Poblacion, Corella. The remaining 24 titles were due for release to absent claimants.
Present during the activity were personnel from the Register of Deeds, LAMP 2, DENR and the local officials of the Municipality of Corella.
As this developed, Corella Vice-Mayor Epifanio Bolando said LAMP2 is the realization of his vision that people can have titled properties in a fast, easy and affordable way.
In behalf of Lawyer Carmelo Echica, Register of Deeds director, Administrative Officer Germanita Guidaben read his message emphasizing the significance of having a land title, "to keep it from possible loss or destruction, because acquiring another needs a court order".
The distribution of free patents gained positive response from the claimants which included Teofila Ahit of Barangay Tanday and Elpedia Fementira of Poblacion, Corella, who both applied in August this year, and Cresencio Daraman of Barangay Anislag who applied in September 2007.
All of them expressed gratitude to LAMP 2 for bringing the project closer to them and in facilitating their tenure.
More free patents will be released this month of December in the barangay level as the project progresses. (Andrew L. Soliva, IECAS/LAMP2-PPIO2)
