Visually Impaired Bol-anon Hurdles Teachers Board Exam

Deprived of good eyesight, this boy from Poblacion proved nothing can hold back a strong spirit to hurdle the Licensure Examinations for Teachers (LET).

Suffering from cataract ailment in both eyes, Elmer Café felt that he stood the chance of seeing again if he could avail the services of eye specialists. That exactly what he did to normalize his eyesight.          

His first major test after restoring his normal sight was took the LET. As fate had it, the 36-year old lad from barangay Poblacion, this town fortunately hurdled the test.

He already got a Professional Civil Service Career (CSC) eligibility way back in 1995. But that was no big deal for him, as his big dream was to become a teacher.

Even during the time when he was visually impaired, Café was active in civic and religious activities.

At present, he is an energetic member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 10088 of Jagna and in his teenage years he was one of the cooperative members of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in his barangay.

In his elementary grades at Jagna Central Elementary School (JCES) and high school at the Colegio de la Medalla Milagrosa (CMM) until he took up Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) at the Bohol Institute of Technology (BIT) in Jagna, he faired well in academic chores as against his classmates with normal eyesight.
