The Bohol ChronicleCorazon Lacea Paras, a consistent national awardee, is a native of Balilihan now a public health midwife of Dauis Municipal Health Office recently received another national award, this time from the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC).She was adjudged the Most Outstanding Midwife for the year 2007.
She was among the 42 recipients of the Most Prestigious Award the Outstanding Professionals in all levels.The awarding was done on the occasion of the 34th Anniversary and Professional Regulations Commission Week celebration with the secretary of DOLE, Arturo D. Brion as guest of honor and speaker.
In 1999, she was among the 10 Most Outstanding Midwives of the Philippines, sponsored by Johnson and Johnson. In 2003, she was again awarded one of the 10 Most Outstanding Midwife Leaders.
In October of 2006, she was a resource speaker on Entrepeneurship during the 6th Triennial International Congress participated in by midwives of the Asia-Pacific region.
On June 22, 2007, at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel, Metro Manila, she was the sole recipient of the Most Prestigious Award, the Outstanding Professional of 2007 Midwifery category.
She received a symbol of recognition trophy. It is in solid glass lined with gold cut to rise on a solid base with the PRC seal above center.
Paras' award-receiving trip was partly assisted by the Bohol Provincial Government Communications with various government offices and aided by the Office of Bohol 1st District Congressman Edgar M. Chatto.
On the occasion, she was escorted by husband, Mar L. Paras Jr., daughter-in-law Maria Therese B. Paras, CPA, sister-in-law Lourdes Paras Mamangon, proprietor of Napoli, an Italian Restaurant in Metro Manila with friend Boholana businesswoman, Sol Alturas Yu, owner of Villa Del Sol, a pension house in Tagbilaran who brought in bunch of expensive flowers.
