Among the 225 successful examinees of the recent licensure examinations for Doctors of Veterinary Medicine, given by the Professional Regulations Commission, is a pure Bol-anon and a native of Valencia town.
Dr. Rodney Marante y Pagaran was born in Poblacion Occidental, Valencia, Bohol, and spent his elementary and high school days here in Tagbilaran City.
After six years of studies at University of the Philippines at Los Baños (UPLB), the new doctor took the government’s licensure examinations for Veterinarians last Aug. 1-3, 2007 in Manila. Only 225 passed the said exams out of the 637 examinees. Out of the 50 fresh graduates from UPLB, 46 passed the board exams, for the school’s 92 percent passing rate.
Dr. Marante spent his elementary days at the Holy Spirit School and attended high school at the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Technology (CVSCAFT). While in high school, he, along with elder brother Jay Warren, were mainstays of the famous CVSCAFT drum and bugle corps.
Dr. Rodney P. Marante is the youngest of the two boys of the two boys of Nathaniel Marante of Poblacion Occidental, Valencia, and Elizabeth Pagaran-Marante, of Tabuan, Garcia-Hernandez. Elder brother Jay Warren is also an alumnus of UPLB, finishing BS in Applied Physics in 2005, and is now working as a Design Engineer in Bitmicro Networks International, a company pioneering in producing computer softwares and hardwares.
