Boholano Overseas Workers and Cummunity Credit Cooperative (BOWACCC) on its 3rd Anniversary

Eastern Province, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - "Like marriage, BOWACCC has its ups and downs, it is not perfect, but with sheer determination among dedicated officers and members, the journey towards success continued which prompted us to celebrate our third year of serving our members and community", said the Vice Chairman, Dioscoro (Jun) Ayag Jr.

It is with pride to be a catalyst on this field (cooperativism) in this part of the world (AlKhobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) being the pioneering group registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) in the Philippines, enthusiastically declared by Elias (Dong) Bonite, the coop's Chairman. We became among the role model among organizations and informal groups (kabarkadas) in formalizing and registering their cooperatives.

This year's celebration with the theme "Unity Towards Success" will be held on Friday, 7 September 2007 at Rivag Oriental Suites, Corniche, Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. Among the guests who will grace the occasion is the newly installed Labor Attache, Hon. David Des Dicang, Welfare Officer, Hon. Rolando Coquia and their team. Expected to attend are Boholanos who come as far as Riyadh in addition to members and friends in Eastern Cities (Dammam, Jubail, Hofuf, Dhahran).

The highlights for the gathering shall be an Induction of Officers for Y2007-2009, short program, raffle draw, parlor games, talents show, distribution of passbooks and statements, issuances of memberhip IDs, socials and many more.

Begining last year, it had posted a tremendous growth in terms of memberships and savings/deposits with the imposition of a minimum requirements of SR100.00 for every member per month.

The cooperative is also an advocate of social conciousness having involved in Filipino community projects and charity works.

The other members of the Board of Directors (Messrs. Bert Pastor, Raymun 'Macky' Ferniz and Joe Oclarit) commented in unison that the reputation of the organization depends largely on the integrity of its people. Hence, the "Unity Towards Success" could be paralleled to One Vision, One Success, One Family, One Community.

Dear Happy,

Perhaps you could join us. You could invite anybody in your area with Boholano affinity and organize yourselves. Being one of the Board of Directors of BOWACCC I could recommend you as chapter chairman in your present location. This is a worldwide capital infusion organization of Boholanos and one of our aim is to open a Micro Credit/Finance Bank in Bohol solely owned by Boholanos "Ato' Ni". This vision is most feasible if God wills, in a year time.

To explain further, what we mean of "Ato Ni" is every member has a share or dividend of every income or revenue the coop gets in a year (every member is the owner). So, duna kay bahin sa kita sa imong kwarta. Whereas if you put your money in the bank, the revenues of your money will go to the bank, ila ra ang kita. Of course all interest rates are governed and in accordance to the Bylaws and Constitution imposed by the CDA.

Also rates are of the minimum compared to the bank, i.e. loan interest is only 1.5% per month plus service charge of 2.25% per annum compared to the bank which is 8% to 10% and 5/6 which is outrageously 20%.

Bel, a member of Tubag Bohol informed me that one of my relatives is now stationed in UK. Silingan ra ninyo, anak ni late Bobong Ferniz, igsoon ni Isol.

Thank you for your support and help.

Prestige is in the name itself Boholano "Overseas" Workers, etc. and something to be proud of, dili kini basta-basta.

I will give you a scenario 1 or 2 years from now, on your vacation to Bohol, you will pass by the BOWACCC Bank and you will proudly say to your friends "I am one of the Owner". Isn't it nice to imagine.

What I mean is, should this bank be realized, which is not far from reality, it is an icon of Boholano endeavour (sweat, blood, tears.... you know what I mean).

Once again, appreciate your help in telling your friends.

N.B. Kung dunay gustong magpamiembro, sultihi lang ko. Its just a small portion of your huge income and it is preparing Boholanos for re-integration, to keep some savings. Nobody will work abroad forever, someday they will embrace once more their beloved land Bohol.

Dear Fellow Boholanos,

I would like to invite you all to join and support the BOWACCC's thrust of operating a Micro-Finance Bank, an Overseas Boholanos-led and inspired institution which would benefit the less fortunate Boholanos as well as its OFs, OFWs and local community members.

Sa giingon na ni Macky, 'ato ni'. Mao ni atong pagla-um nga bisan unsa ta ka ubos duna diay ta'y chance nga makapanag-iya ug Bangko. By pooling our resources together, we will come up with a minimum capital of P5M to operate a MF Bank. it's kind of an ambitious goal pero kon daghan ta magtampo sa atong limited resources modako kana and for sure the P5M capital is attainable.
