As one of the highlights of the weeklong celebration of the 438th Araw Ng Maynila which culminated Wednesday, the City of Manila thru the leadership of Mayor Afredo S. Lim, launched a search for five Outstanding RTC Judges, five Outstanding MeTC Judges and five Outstanding City Prosecutors.
From among the 30 MeTC judges to choose from in this metropolitan area a Boholana was chosen as one of them, Judge Marlo Apalisok Magdoza-Malagar of Branch 5.
The awarding ceremony took place last June 18, at the Bulwagang Villegas of the Manila City Hall with Mayor Lim doing the honors in the presence of the search committee headed by SC Justice Lucas Bersamin, Judge Romulo Lopez, City Prosecutor Jhoseph Lopez, Retired Justice Artemio Tuquero, Executive Judge Sarah Alma Lim, and Atty. Rafaelito Garaybas.
Judge Marlo A. Magdoza-Malagar was appointed to the bench by President Arroyo, five years ago and the youngest appointed judge at the age 31.
She finished her Master of Laws with Honors, at the University of London, in England, as a Chevning Scholar, as Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Laws at the Ateneo de Manila, Pre-law Major in Political Science in University of the Philippines, Cebu City and High School and Elementary grades at the Holy Spirit School, Tagbilaran City.
She had been formerly connected with the Lazaro Law Firm in Manila, then with Casilan Law Office here in Tagbilaran, and then at the Supreme Court under SC Justice Jose C. Vitug.
She is the eldest daughter of Judge Pablo R. Magdoza and Margie Apalisok Magdoza and the wife of Atty. Leo B. Malagar and they have 3 sons.
