For his contribution for the advancement of tourism, Gov. Erico Aumentado recently received still another award.
Aumentado was one of eight honorees during the 4th Tourism Awards sponsored by the Rotary Club of Manila (RCM) and the National Association of Independent Travel Agencies (Naitas) in rites held at the Manila Polo Club in the presence of previous tourism awardees..
"I am humbled by the recognition given by this famous club - the best among equals of civic clubs in the country," the governor said in his response. He bagged the award in the local government category.
A member of Rotary Club International District 3810, the RCM, founded in 1919, is the first in Asia.
RCM President Bienvenido Laguesma, Naitas President Angel Ramos Bognot and Rotarian Robert Joseph Jr. who chairs the Committee on Tourism presented the plaque of recognition.
Other awardees for 2007-2008 and their respective categories are: Dr. James Dy, chair, Pan Pacific Travel, Inc. - travel; Dr. Lucio Tan, chair and chief executive officer (CEO), Philippine Airlines - airline; Timothy Wright, general manager, ShangriLa Mactan - resort; Chelo Banal-Formoso, editor, Lifestyle, Philippine Daily Inquirer - media; Rotarian Henry Sy, chair, SM Group of Companies - hotels/resorts/malls; Bernd Schneider, general manager, Sofitel Hotel - hotel; and Bayani Fernando, chair, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) - culture tourism.
The governor said Bohol's advance in tourism was not an overnight phenomenon.
