April Love Jordan, 21, won the first ever Beauty of World crown at the International Beauty and Model Festival in Kuning, the capital of southwest China’s Yunnan province, on Sunday morning Manila time.
She beat 44 other delegates including runners-up Kuliesaite Laura of Lithuania, Natalia Ospina Acevedo of Colombia, Ayene Ella Marlyne Lea of the Gabonese Republic, and Sylvia Christina Rita of the United States.
Jordan, five-foot-eight-and-a-half, received a cash prize and sponsor’s contract from the World Beauty Congress, the organizer of the pageant established by Zamir Huseynov and Ma Yongmei.
Jordan graduated with a degree in tourism, hotel and travel industry management at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila last month. She was born on April 10, 1988 in Sta. Cruz, Manila, and is the eldest child of entrepreneurs Eugene Jordan and the former Imelda Antolo.
She was a finalist in the Miss Philippines-Earth contest in 2006 and a runner-up in the Mutya ng Pilipinas beauty pageant the same year, when the Mutya organizers sent her to Kuala Lumpur to compete in the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International tilt, where she was named “Miss Secret Charm.â€
Jordan was handpicked by Michael Sy Lim—the local franchise holder of the Miss Chinese International contest—to participate in this maiden competition. Giovanni Paolo J. Yazon
