The Catigbian eco-adventure is the latest addition to Bohol’s eco-cultural tourism concept offering a whole new experience to the regular destinations in the province.
Mayor Roberto Salinas’ latest brainchild offers breathtaking scenes of the Dagook Falls and Sampilangon River, which are tributaries upstream of the Abatan River, and the unique showcase of Catigbian culture.
Far from posing as a competition to the eco-tours of other towns in the province, the outdoor adventure of Catigbian aims to complement the tour packages of Bohol, while it introduces young people to be sensitive to the environment.
DAGOOK ADVENTURE
Dagook Adventure is for those who are ready to meet a different kind of challenge as most of the activities of the Abatan Upstream Eco-Tour are designed to test your courage especially in finishing the entire course.
The challenges are ideal for building courage and an experience of the thrills of a true outdoor adventure.
The Dagook Adventure has the facilities, trained guides and high end equipment (cables, harnesses and ropes) to ensure the safety of guests.
The first course you will encounter is the canopy walk which will kick in your adrenaline by walking through 60-meters of swaying footbridge in the midst of thick vegetation and rare plant and tree species of Dagook Falls.
The second course of the adventure is the 40-meter monkey bridge suspended by about 100-meters above the rushing waters of the river.
Even with a double harness to a safety cable overhead, the moment you take your first step on the cable, the bridge shifts with your every movement giving you the thrill and excitement. But as you move along the line, the distraction of the view below you (the cascading waterfalls) will take away your fears.
After the monkey walk, you will have to trek about a hundred meters going to the mountain slide. Catigbiana’s own version of the zip line.
A 200-meter cable is mounted on an incline where you will be riding through a pulley suspended on a cable.
While riding the slide, you can view water rapids of Abatan River.
The whole idea of the entire course is to provide a “wholesome activity†for those who love the outdoors.
