Chevrolet, General Motors' vehicle brand, launched four
world premieres for Orlando, new Cruze, new Aveo and Captiva SUV here on Thursday, the first day of the 2010 Paris Motor Show.
Chevrolet is General Motors' highest-selling brand, and the U.S. carmaker presented its new product and redesigns mainly targeting the European market.
The 7-seat family van Orlando, due to go on sale across Europe in early 2011, is a redesign from the concept car that debuted at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. It has three choices of Chevrolet's three latest engines: one 1.8-liter gasoline engine and two 2.0- liter diesel units.
The new 5-door hatchback model of Cruze HB5, an improvement of Chevrolet's top seller, will go on sale across Europe in mid 2011.
To knock the market in summer 2011 with gasoline or diesel engines, new Aveo boasts about its quality interior with a modern audio system with USB, aux-in and Bluetooth functionality. It has 6-speed automatic transmission and 5 or 6 manual transmission.
Captiva SUV, the front-or-all-wheel drive car, is a seven- seater with new manual and automatic six-speed transmissions. It provides options of two gasoline engines (2.4L and 3.0L) and two turbo-diesel variants (2.2L), and will launch in the European market in spring 2011.
The 2010 Paris Motor Show opened to the press on Thursday in southwest Paris, and will open to the public from Oct. 2 to 17. The 2-week biennial international event, started in 1898, has become the most attractive international cars show with a record of 1.43 million visitors for the 2008 show. - Associated Press, source
