Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> informed the transport ministry on Wednesday that it will recall all existing 47,784 units of the first-generation Prius hybrid model in Japan due to a steering system flaw.
Subject to the recall are Prius hybrids manufactured between October 1997 and May 2003. The top Japanese automaker will take similar steps for some 58,000 Priuses it sold in overseas markets including the United States, Britain and Germany.
