Gipulihan og Pahinungod, which is too generic kay almost all festivals pahinungod man jud na.  Calape is also known for its special torta and kinatloan. Pang-export!  My other favorite is tinunlob, which is hilaw nga sab-a cut into chips and sun-dried. The dried chips are submerged in boiling sugarcane juice, tinuhog daan sa tukog. Processing the tinunlob this way is a distincly Calapenhon heritage.

I didn't know diha diay Takla Festival.  Mura pod diay na Crawfish Festival dre.  By the way, I am sure nakatilaw na ko'g takla kay mananagat akong mga kaparyentihan sa Manga District, but is that similar to shrimps?

Grazie7y, you're right, mora'g pasayan ang takla, pero mas bus-ok. Mas sayon kan-on. Similar to pinasugbu ang processing sa tinunlob, but tinunlob does not have sesame seeds.

Thanks Leo and Koddi.  Tama, pinasugbo diay tong ngalan adtong delicacy sa Ilo-ilo and it has sesame seeds tinuod.

Hilaw:

Many things have been asked about the takla. Mao ni akong mga apas-sumpay: Takla is not endemic to Calape. The first one in 2000 was named Uli Calape. A friend of mine, who was an SB member (later lost and now have returnee to the SB) sought my help in conceptualizing the streetdancing festival there. The dancers mimicked the takla's movement, that of flicking its telson (tail) against its back to produce the characteristic takla sound. The basketball court of the town's new cultural center bears a huge painting of the takla to symbolize Calape.

You're right again, Grazie7y. Mao nay takla! Although there are many varieties of takla, the main characteristics are the enlarged pincers (paak), sometimes as large as the body.

The pictures I posted weren't that big but I think that's big enough for you to know if that's the same as takla.  People here also hold annual Crawfish Festival complete with revelry. ;D

Mas daghan ang tartanilya sa Tubigon.  Remeber the good old days nga mag-ilog tag sakay sa tartanilya inig naog sa barko? enjoy man gud. pang-tourist na unta to karon kon naa pa. dapat buhion ang tartanilya sa tubigon ug calape. but when i talked to one concerned employee sa munisipyo sa tubigon, wala na kunoy nag maintain og mga kabayo kay mahal, gawas nga baho ug anso pa jud. mahal na pud ang pag maintain og karwahe. sayang no?
