A gala presentation dubbed as Paukyab sa Calape by the Calapsora Ambassadors on May 8,2008 is among the nightly presentations of this year’s fiesta celebration of the town’s patron saint, St. Vincent Ferrer on May 10,2008.
According to Mayor Siulpicio N. Yu, Jr., M.D., the affair is a three-part dance extravaganza which will comprise folk dances in the first part, a variety of international dances in the second part and the modern hip hop and jazz in the third part.
Calapsora ambassadors is composed of 48 young students and out of school youths of Calape who were chosen from hundreds of aspirants who tried out in January this year.
Dr. Yu said the word Calapsora is a combination of the words Calape and Sora, which means dance.
Already in the final stage of mastery, Calapsora ambassadors will showcase Calape’s tradition, arts and culture according to the group’s choreographer, Mrs. Henedina Y. Sendrijas.
The Mayor said this is the first time that the municipality of Calape has organized a dance troupe which will serve as the town’s ambassadors.
