Written By Ven ArigoA pretty young former salesgirl of a department store here secretly went with a yet unknown recruiter to Manila for a better job in support of her poor parents but was instead made to work in San Fernando City in Pampanga as a househelp---and forced by her male employer to massage his “manhood.â€
Finally, her maniac employer, whose wife just flew abroad, would have raped 18-year-old Irish (not her real name) had she not fought back and luckily freed herself one night last week.
She dashed from her master’s bedroom and out of the house to the road until she reached the SM Mall where she hoped to find someone who might be trusted for her temporary stay and safety.
An SM janitor sensed she was sobbing and so he approached her and asked if she had any problem.
After learning what had happened to Irish, the kind man just a little older offered her refuge at his home in Sto. Tomas town while the Boholana would try to contact her mother, Emerita, and elder sister, Mary Jane, back home in Taloto this city.
Irish and Mary Jane made contacts through their cellphones, and their mother on Wednesday rushed to the office of First District Rep. Edgar Chatto here for assistance to her daughter.
Assisted by Chatto’s political officer, Anthony Damalerio, Emerita managed to contact Irish’s cellphone and briefly talked to her daughter who was crying, waiting for her rescue. Proper coordination is now in place.
In an exclusive CHRONICLE interview, Emerita recalled that her daughter told them last June that someone she knows would bring her to Manila for a better job.
Irish did not tell anybody in the family, including her father, when she might leave while still regularly reporting to her work here as a Unitop salesgirl until first few days of July this year.
Without her parents consent, Irish secretly departed for Manila and her parents learned about this only lately when she contacted her family through cellphone that she was already in San Fernando, Pampanga as early as last July 7 employed as a househelp.
Emerita knew neither her daughter’s escort to Manila nor her employer in Pampanga.
The mother had prepared a letter, dated July 23, to Chatto initially revealing that Irish had told them “aduna siyay dakung problema (she had a serious problem)†and that she begged her parents to find all means for her immediate return to Bohol.
Emerita told the CHRONICLE that Irish told them her male employer made her to massage his body---and sex organ---until he finally tried to rape her.
Only Irish and her male employer stayed in the house because his wife had just gone abroad while their two children are studying in Manila.
Emerita described Irish, who has a younger sibling, as a good child that she helped raise their family while yet working at the Unitop after graduating from the Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School.
Irish’s parents are both jobless as her father is ailing while her mother, a former street cleaner, needs money for her kidney operation.
Her elder sister, a teacher of a small private school outside the city, is still single and has acted as family’s lone breadwinner in the absence of Irish.
