The Provincial Health Office (PHO) reports that dengue cases in the towns are still on the rise despite massive "search and destroy" operations in the towns.
As of yesterday victims of the deadly dengue fever drastically increased to 615 from 512 just a week ago.
This figure is based on reports of confinements from public and private hospitals provincewide.
Provincial health officer Dr. Reymoses Cabagnot attributes the rapid rise in dengue admittances in the past days to the start of the rainy season.
The occurrence of dengue is still rampant in the city, with already 229 cases reported.
Tagbilaran is followed by Dauis with already 64 victims while Jagna registered 56.
As of yesterday, city hospitals are still congested with dengue patients.
Patients refused at private hospitals are being given emergency treatment at dengue "fastlanes" established at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Regional Hospital and eleven other district hospitals.
Six of ten dengue casualties occurred in the month of July. Five of the ten deaths come from Tagbilaran City.
Other towns registering a high number of dengue victims are Albur with 19; Baclayon and Mabini 15; Panglao and Loboc with 13; Ubay 11; Balilihan, Carmen and Loon with 10.
Most of dengue victims are aged 5 to 14 with 297 since January this year.
Ages 15 to 49 registered 193 cases, followed by ages 1 to 4 with 109 cases.
ALL OUT WAR VS. DENGUETeams from the Department of Health (DOH) regional office launched "search and destroy" campaigns in the towns targeting all breeding areas of the dengue carrying aedes aegypti mosquito.
Fogging operations were also sanctioned by the DOH in addition to its "4 'S' Kontra Dengue" campaign.
