COMPOSTELA VALLEY, Philippines (UPDATED) – Three people, including a young mother and her baby, died after Typhoon Pablo smashed through Compostela Valley on Tuesday, December 4.
Valentin Pabillana, stepfather of two of the victims, said a landslide buried their house in Sitio Calupugon, Barangay Maparat in the town of Compostela at around 9 am. Compostela is one of the towns in the province of Compostela Valley.
The victims were identified as Nelia Francesciti, 20 years old; her 11-month-old son Budoy; and her sister Rosi, 12 years old.
"When the landslide happened, all that we can do was to save ourselves," Pabillana said.
The victims' bodies presently lie at the village basketball court. "No one came, not even the government. We are planning to bury them in a few hours because the bodies would start to smell," Pabillana added. (More images from Compostela Valley below)
