In Bilar town, a tourist claimed that a tourist guide and a companion robbed him of valuables last July 15.
The victim was identified as one Mark Anthony Calimutan, 27, a resident of no. 28, Maligaya subdivision, Novaliches, Quezon City.
Calimutan alleged that he lost P4,000 in cash, a Nokia N70 mobile phone, i-pod and other valuables.
The suspects was identified as a certain Edwin Eloriaga, 25, and his companion known only as Dodong.
SPO1 Florido Gabito of the Bilar PNP told Station DyTR that the victim clamed he and the suspect met at a mall in Tagbilaran about 7:30 pm last Tuesday. The suspect reportedly offered to accompany Calimutan to the Chocolate Hills that same night by motorcycle.
The victim said he did not know the address of the suspect whom he met in Cebu during the Sinulog celebration where the latter also acted as his tour guide.
According to Calimutan, after divesting him of his valuables, the suspect left him in the forest with P200 for his fare.
As this developed, the Bohol Federation of Travel and Tours Operators (BOFETTO) disowned Eloriaga saying his name was not among the accredited tour guides. - source: Bohol Sunday Post
