Mayor Dan Lim in flight grave scandal
December 18,2011
published by the Bohol ChronicleTagbilaran City Mayor Dan Lim who is a known vocal critic of personalities in the province got the receiving end of what is perceived could be an embarrassing moment in his life -involving a scandal on board Zestair flight (Z2353) bound for Manila last Friday afternoon.
In a complaint filed at the Airport Police Dept., the mayor was charged for alleged grave scandal and unjust vexation.
Aksyon TV5 anchored by newscaster Paolo Bediones last Friday night reported the city mayor was involved in a "sex scandal" in front of the two stewardesses of Zestair flight wherein the former "unbuckled his pants and showed his private part in front of the ladies Camille Rose Diaz and Janine de Castro.
During a phone interview, Diaz narrated that Lim allegedly also pulled down his underwear (half) while sitting down at seat no. 1-C in the front row facing them.
Diaz, cabin head /purser narrated to the Chronicle yesterday that the mayor violently reacted after he was told that he could not yet go to the rest room as the plane was already taxiing in the runway of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport with the "fasten your seat belt" sign still on.
Instead of following the basic rule, the mayor told Diaz "you want me to pee here?" Aside from saying that, the stewardees recalled that Lim demanded to ask the captain to allow him to go to the rest room. Due to embarrassment suffered by Diaz, she called the attention of the pilot, Capt. Ronaldo Ramos who later allowed Mayor Lim to use the lavatory to avoid further scandal inside the aircraft,
Maintaining the rule that all passengers should sit down while the plane was negotiating the runway, Diaz was shocked to see Lim allegedly open his belt and pants after which he also pulled down (half) his underwear exposing his "private part" infront of the shocked stewardesses.
"It was a shocking, traumatic experience we had," Diaz stressed while she started to cry because of shame and embarrassment in front of the passengers.
"While I broke in tears, I could not imagine meeting such person especially that I came to know later that he was a city mayor," Diaz stated, while she could not hold describing the mayor as "bastos."
The incident caused some commotion which prompted the stewardesses to call Capt. Rolando Ramos after she described the mayor as "unruly as he started talking in a loud voice."
"I noticed him as a person who could not follow rules since I already called his attention when the plane left the Tagbilaran Airport as he was still using his mobile phone even if the plane was already moving. The second time I called his attention was when he did not fasten his seat belt," the stewardesses recalled.
Upon disembarking from the plane, we were brought to the Airport Police Department where I filed my statement on what happened on the plane incident.
"I was expecting an apology from a gentleman for the embarrassment brought to us, stewardesses. But, none I heard from him," Diaz said
Diaz said that she will submit her report to the company when she reports back today after taking a leave yesterday while de Castro got sick because of the traumatic incident.
LIM DENIES
Mayor Lim denied the allegations of Ms. Diaz when they were forwarded to the Airport Police Dept. where both parties signified to file the case against each other through direct filing.
In the same TV report last Friday, Mayor Lim was quoted as saying "I have nothing to do with this. It's there already. It's my word against theirs. I can not do otherwise. It would be an insult.."
Lim further said "my character, reputation and my personality is at stake. It's more than an ordinary issue."
The sensational issue spread like wild fire at the YouTube 12 hours after the incident was flashed over Aksyon TV5. The video is now being seen worldwide through the magic of cyberspace.
As of 4pm yesterday, the Tagbilaran mayor who is indicating signs to run for either governor or congressman during the 2013 elections was swamped with criticisms from the cross-section of the community.
Legal luminaries,on the other hand, are of the opinion that the incident can be likened to that of a rape case. Seldom would a victim concoct the rape story if untrue because it could cause shame and then ridicule from other parties. In most cases when the victim(s) allegations versus a mere denial by the suspect are considered -most courts would go in favor of the victims,"Only those who are sexually perverted would enjoy an obvious violation of their persons.",the lawyers said.
It may be recalled also that Lim is facing various complaints on alleged corruption at the Ombudsman Visayas, most of which were dismissed while some were left unattended for reasons all known by the mayor himself and the knowing public. The complaints were filed during the term of then Ombudsman Merceditas Guttierez who was impeached by the Lower House when Pres. Benigno Aquino, Jr assumed office.
Mayor Lim is also undergoing investigation on indiscriminate cutting of electricity at the residences of broadcaster Jerry Pabe and radio technician Gerardo Cajes few months before the 2010 polls. Both staying at Capitol Valley, this city, became victims of harassment by the city mayor since they work with station dyRD, the radio station which chooses to expose alleged anomalies at the city hall under the Lim administration.
The Commission on Human Rights (CHR)- Regional Office has ordered the mayor to effect the reconnection of the electricity at the two residences, but until today the mayor did not honor the directive of the CHR.
