Mike, I like to recall that TISBA (Tagbilaran Inter-School Basketball Association) Campus Girl which Maxie and I organized in November 2000. The best from the schools in Tagbilaran jud ba, unlike the recent batch of beauty pageant contestants (sorry for the language) who are recycled beauties - to borrow Leo P. Udtohan's phrase. Leo was even a member of the working committee that time.
If my memory serves me right, our contestants that time (TISBA) were Ruby Radaza Seroje (winner of the TISBA title who was the brilliant BWS valedictorian with 18 medals during her time), Elaine Edar of CVSCAFT (in 2nd place who was also a runner-up in the Mutya sa Tagbilaran year...), Jill Loquias (from DCPNHS who joined Miss Bohol Sandugo representing Antequera, but was crowned Miss Camiguin years after), Jennifer Lane Frerkes (the BIT beauty from Jagna who was yet a "neophyte" when she joined Maxi's Bohol Model Search 2001 (of which Leo and I were part of the organizers again) who became a commercial model in later years; of course, dear Shiela Binamira from DWCT (HNU) who was best in modelling that time.
Sorry, nagka-memory lapse na jud ko. Basta, of all the pageants that I chanced to be part of as organizer, I recall with fondness that TISBA CAmpus Girl 2000 because it was really classy - thanks to Maxi who did the choreography and designed the outfits.
My point is, highly-recommended man jud na if you send a letter to the school principals and directors. I'm sure the schools' (authorities) will field in the ladies who best represent their ideals.
I almost forgot - kana diay pod Miss Bohol Association of Catholic Schools pageants (which Rev. Fr. Val Pinlac and Ma'am Winnie Flores referred to as my "tinuig nga debosyon" because I have been part of it as judge since year 1994). The best of the schools gihapon na, then wholesome ang dating because it is sponsored by the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Tagbilaran.
While some people say that beauty pageants are a waste of time, I feel that young people (these days lagi) need to see desirable traits or attributes personied through these beauty pageants.
