Does the idea of a 20-hour nonstop flight make your legs ache?
Don’t cringe just yet.
Qantas says a direct flight from Sydney to London — halfway around the planet — could be a reality by 2022. It could incorporate a sleeping area, child-care facilities, a gym, and a bar.
In 1935, flying from Australia to London took 12.5 days. In March, Qantas started 17-hour flights between Perth and London, the first direct link between Australia and Europe.
The new proposed routes are so long that the airline needs sign-off from regulators and a new agreement with pilots.
