Officials in Switzerland have ordered warning signs telling hikers to keep their clothes on in a bid to combat the increased nuisance of naked hiking in the country. Over the past year, the country’s mountainous footpaths and trails have been plagued by the craze of hiking nude, with German tourists thought to be the main culprits.
This practise has shocked more traditional hikers, and the small mountain town of Appenzell Inner Rhodes has taken it upon themselves to impose a 200 Swiss franc (around £120) fine for anyone who is caught hiking nude.
Now Swiss officials have had enough and will be distributing the ‘no naked hiking’ signs throughout the country. Dan Walter, who originally designed the sign as a joke, has been astonished by the amount of orders that have come flooding in.
He said: “It was a bit of a joke sending the sign in to the government. I just wanted to see what their reply would be for a laugh. I never expected an order for moreâ€.
