ARAT

Elements of the City PNP arrested at around 11:30 last night the suspect in the killing of Jack Arat, a marketing executive of the Bohol Tropics Resort Club.

The suspect is identified as one Jeffrey Garrote, 25, a resident of Maribojoc town.

Police Chief Inspector Jacinto Cesar, city police chief, said in an interview with the Chronicle last night, that Garrote was arrested following a tip from a concerned citizen that the suspect was selling one of Arat's two cellular phones which was taken from the latter after he was gunned down in cold blood in front of his residence early dawn last August 13.

A roving City PNP team spotted Garrote along Belderol Street, this city, but were able to arrest at Graham Street after the suspect eluded arrest.

According to C/Insp. Cesar, Garrote denied responsibility in the killing of Arat during an interrogation last night.

The suspect is reportedly a police character who sells stolen cellular phones, C/Insp. Cesar said.

Arat, 30, was a marketing and sales executive of Bohol Tropics Resort Club. He was shot in front of his residence along JS Torralba Street, this city.

Police said the apparent motive is robbery as Arat was divested of two expensive mobile phones and cash amounting to P15,000.

It may be recalled that City Mayor Dan Lim assured last week that police already have a shortlist of suspects in the string of shooting incidents and robberies in the city.

Mayor Lim likewise declared that starting Sept 1, he wants night spots to close by 12 midnight together with the strict imposition of the liquor ban by 10 p.m. for those without licenses as given to tourist-related establishments like hotels.

The mayor wants a barangay level imposition of the liquor ban. The 12-midnight closure of night spots will include the "Sky's The Limit" barbecue corners in the city.

Together with this is the strict imposition of curfew on minors starting at 10 o'clock in the evening.

Internet cafes will also be closely monitored and will eventually be asked to limit their business hours.

Habal-habal drivers will be checked especially those who are not owners of motorcycles but are merely renting the bikes to operate until wee hours in the morning.

You have a good 50 years on me--so you should be more experienced, lol. Is that so? I didnt know that newspapers were gospel...must be one of your typically narrow minded 'conclusions'.  ;D

Well it is good enough for suspicion and for this person to be held for questioning "My how odd this person has Jacks cell phone especially after his death?" just how did this person obtain this phone?
Did Jack have them on him the night he was killed?
Did he let his co-worker hold on to them for a while?
I heard there is more to the story then what is being said about the whole thing?
I heard this from a very reliable source who has to be the closest person at his side all night during a show that was held in Dauis Panglao. According to this person jack was not being his usual bubbly self? I think maybe also his family knows more as well and does not want to reveal what they know. I wonder from the sounds and looks of things could it be that jack was threatened? I also feel that the family might be scared to go to the police as they may be the next victim of circumstance if they did. I am truly sickened for what has happened to Jack and this community.
Last weekend we were suppose to launch off La Bailar at ICM mall the same judges will be returning minus our chairman judge Jack. Sad to say that last weekend it did not launch.
I think that the entire ballroom community is still in mourning and not presently in the mood to compete so close to the murdering of jack.
Please people for the sake of Jack lets keep the ball rolling and keep our god thoughts of Jack by continuing to do the things he loved to do.
He would want as many persons possible signing up and dancing in the competition as it is his most favorite activity and sport. Keep on dancing in the Heavens my friend.

Amen. We will keep in our hearts and hope everything goes back to normal in the coming days.

According to one person who is close to him who spent their last living hours of his informed me as well that there is more to the story.
The person also mentioned that Jack did not greet the audience in his usual cheery self and way as he had in the past.
They also mentioned to me that one in particular relative to Jack knows about things but is to scared to be at the liberty to reveal what the matter is all about?
Makes me wonder if this relative wants others to be hurt or killed as well by not spilling the beans on what is the truth to get this person whom ever they are off the streets?
This subjects truly haunts me to no end until this case can be cracked once and for all. the people who know more things had better stop putting others at danger by not saying anything and come out with what leads they may have to solve this and put persons at rest in the community here.

There have been people who PM'd me saying that there was more behind the scenes.
That some big people in Tagbilaran were involved.
