At 4pm on Wednesday, Tropical Storm (internationally codenamed Cimaron) was moving in the direction of northwest at an estimated speed of 22 kilometres per hour, according to analysis by the Philippines Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
It was most recently observed at 210 km northweast of Aparri, Cagayan with winds at 65kph in the center and gusts reaching up to 80 kph.
Areas alerted for Public Storm Signal No. 1 include Ilocos Norte, Calayan, Babuyan Group of Islands and Batanes Group of Islands.
“Isang†is forecasted to be 700km northwest o Aparri, Cagayan on late Thursday afternoon.
The Marikina River has seen a water level increase of 12.6 meters as of 2.20pm with the public within the area informed of the rise via the official twitter account.
Alarm Level 1 is used to define 15 meters above sea level with Level 2 a preparation level at 16 meters, 3 an evacuation level at 17 and 4 a critical stage at 18 meters.
