The Shipper's Protection Office (SPO), headed by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), has facilitated the resolution and proper disposition of a total of 48 complaints and inquiries as of April 15, 2021.
The office was created per DOTr Department Order No. 2020-008 to protect domestic and international shippers against unreasonable fees and charges imposed by domestic and international shipping lines.
Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) serves as vice chair of the SPO with members from the Department of Transportation's Maritime and Legal offices and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
