Police are still searching for the other missing body parts of the two women who were murdered in Talisay City last Friday.

Yesterday, members of the Minglanilla police and Scene of the Crime Operation of the PNP Crime Laboratory conducted a search in different locations of Talisay City, Minglanilla and Naga City where they brought with them one of the suspects, Richard Gudelosao.

The heads of the victims, Eva Mae Peligro and her helper Gwendolyn Balasta, have already been found.

Police arrested along with Gudelosao his live-in partner Jean Antonette Medalle and the brother of Peligro’s fiancé Joseph Roy Cellar, Friday evening.

Medalle was said to be an accessory to the crime for helping the other two suspects hide it by cleaning the crime scene.  She also allegedly knew of the plan to kill Peligro.

Based on the initial investigation, Gudelosao and Cellar, the caretaker of a house just a block down from the Gudelosaos’, had been allegedly planning to kill Peligro in her house in Talisay City for a week already.

Gudelosao, 27, a taxi driver, was allegedly irked by Peligro for reporting to his brother and parents, who are working in California in the United States, of his constant drinking and drug use that prompted them to stop sending him money.

Gudelosao is the older brother of Peligro’s fiancé, who is working in California.

It was late Thursday afternoon when the two, after reportedly smoking marijuana, first cut the Internet connection of Peligro, who was in her room at the first floor of the two-story building.

When she came out of her room the two alleged punched her and choked her until she died.  Balasta, who came later to check on what happened, was also killed.

When asked why they had to chop up the bodies, Cellar said they needed to fit them into the baggage compartment of a taxi cab, a gift given by Peligro’s fiancé.

The suspects allegedly went out at Friday 3 a.m. to dispose of the chopped remains of the victims.

Security guard Efren Tiquillo recorded the vehicle driven by Gudelosao going out of the subdivision’s Gate 2 bound for Minglanilla town, where at least three garbage bags were found the other day.

The bags contained chopped remains of the victims.

The Minglanilla and Talisay City policemen are preparing a case for double murder against the three that might be filed today while the search of the missing body parts continues.

Last Saturday, several garbage bags were recovered containing parts of the victims’ bodies, including the one found in barangay Laag, Naga City that contained a leg and the upper body of a woman.

Sr. Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of the Minglanilla police, urged the media to refrain from giving gory details of the missing parts to avoid adding hurt to the families of the victims.

Sr. Insp. Mario Monilar, chief of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, said only “sick persons” and those under the influence of drugs can commit such heinous crimes.— Edwin Ian Melecio/BRP
