Salary Increase for Capitol Employees
« on: April 26, 2007, 01:50:54 PM »
GOV. Erico Aumentado the other day sought authority from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to effect a ten-percent across the board increase salary hike for Capitol employees retroactive March 1, 2007.

This after the provincial government of Bohol appropriated P26 million from its savings, generated by his policy of not filling up vacancies, which are not indispensable to public service.

The governor sought the salary increase “to help us improve the quality of life of our personnel in these difficult times.”

“Admittedly, this is one also of the incentives that the provincial government has given to its employees because for the last six years of my administration, not a single office therein has ever been linked to corruption, according to the Holy Name University [HNU] Research Center yearly poll surveys,” he explained.

The HNU Research Center is the only outside Metro Manila-based polling body and trained by the Social Weather Stations.

“Your Excellency’s exemption or authorization will move DBM [Department of Budget and Management] to approve the aforecited appropriation in a supplemental budget for the purpose,” he said. (June Blanco)
