MANILA, Philippines—Police arrested a man in Quezon City early Friday on charges of homicide after he allegedly threw a deadly punch at a 55-year-old man for ogling his wife while she suckled her month-old baby.
Bonifacio Dionaldo, 38, of the village of Greater Lagro, was apprehended by members of the neighborhood watch (Barangay Tanod) after Marcos Lim, the man he allegedly hit with a straight to the face, died on the way to a hospital, according to Chief Inspector Inspector Benjamin Elenzano, head of the Homicide Investigation Section of the Quezon City Police District.
"The impact of the blow likely led to the old man's death,'' Elenzano said.
He said, Dionaldo struck Lim in the face during a confrontation over the victim's supposed leery behavior toward his wife.
Investigation showed that Dionaldo confronted the victim after his five-year old daughter told him about Lim’s watching his mother every time she breast-fed their baby.
"The victim allegedly watched the suspect's wife while she was breast-feeding her one-month-old infant,'' Elenzano said.
He said Lim managed to draw a knife and lunged at Dionaldo, "but he was no match to the suspect who just parried the thrust and hit him on the face.''
Police said Dionaldo is now detained at the police station.
