Vilma has been with the Bureau of Customs for 23 years. She started her very humble beginnings as a Data Encoder at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Internal Administration Group (IAG) and worked her way up. For more than two decades, she exemplified determination and a firm resolve in ensuring that her work contributed to the goal of the Bureau. A testament to her commitment was the time when she was assigned at the Port of Subic in 2014. As a mother who resided in Nueva Ecija back then, she was not fazed by the distance. Instead, she made it work, reporting to work as early as 6:30 AM. Currently, because of her unwavering dedication and hard work, management skills, and adaptability, she has garnered her multiple accolades and promotions, and now helms a leadership role as the head of the Port of Subic - Customer Care Center (CCC).

Vilma’s commitment to her craft has manifested in the different roles that she took throughout the years. Most notably, her leadership as the head of the Port of Subic-CCC greatly contributed to making the processes of the port more seamless, and improving the accessibility, and consequently, the overall efficiency of the agency.

“Public service should be a multi-way type of collaboration between the government, the people, and other relevant entities. Collectively, there should be a singular goal in improving the overall aspect of living, no matter how big or small the initiatives are. This is something I have lived by and the legacy I want to impart, especially with my current role as the Head of the Customer Care Center at the Port of Subic: we work for the people, and with the people.”
