Press Release
SFFAII HOSTS BUSINESS LUNCHEON MEETING FOR PAMPANGA BUSINESS LEADERS
General Santos City recently inked a Sisterhood Agreement with Pampanga’s Economic Triangle - the Cities of Mabalacat, Angeles, and San Fernando at General Santos City. The agreement opens economic ties and begins the two-way development between the Triangle and General Santos City through trade, tourism, employment generation, and culture and the arts. This agreement will benefit the small and medium enterprises of the city, the Shrimp industry, the Tuna industry, among others.
Leaders of the Pampanga Economic Triangle took time to personally visit General Santos City on the occasion of the Tuna Festival and sampled the famed #TunaExperience.
In the same vein, the SOCSKSARGEN Federation of Fishing and Allied Industries, Inc. (SFFAII) hosted a Business Luncheon Meeting for the group within the confines of the 21st National Tuna Congress on September 4, 2019 at SM City General Santos, General Santos City.
SFFAII Officers and Directors led by Past President Marfin Tan, Immediate Past President Joaquin Lu, and President Andrew Philip Yu, together with key officers of SFFAII’s member-associations warmly welcomed and entertained the Pampanga guests while also serving the delicious sashimi-grade Tuna during lunch.
Both SARGEN Shrimp Stakeholders’ Association, Inc. (SARGEN Shrimp) and Fresh Frozen Seafood Association of the Philippines, Inc. (FFSAPI) were presenters during the meeting. SARGEN Shrimp founded on November 13, 2013, composed of individuals and corporates, farm owners, farmers, and various stakeholders of the shrimp industry in SOCSKSARGEN Area, actively participates in various activities and delivers basic services to beneficiary-aquaculture farmers by conducting seminars and trainings deemed beneficial to both shrimp farmers and stakeholders. On the other hand, FFSAPI, the leading fresh and frozen seafood association in the Philippines, consists of small family-owned businesses to large Multinational Corporations. It was established in February 2001 in General Santos City. FFSAPI, as the leading producer and exporter of fresh and frozen seafood in the country, is the only industry contributing $18 million annually in export revenues. The association is serving the premium markets of Japan, Canada, and the USA.
A brief Open Forum followed with fishing industry pillar Marfin Tan expertly responding and accommodating questions from the appreciative audience.
For tokens, SFFAII gave out the coffee table book “Tuna: At the Heart of General Santos” to everyone.
