By Rey Anthony ChiuGoing for the much-needed boost in local tourism, this year's Festival of Friendship goes into marketing and promotion of industries for a sustainable community livelihood and tourism via gigantic pavilions of Bohol's newest tourism destination circuits at the Island City Mall July 18-22.
Through the years, the Sandugo friendship festival has been a myriad of activities featuring Bohol's past, present and future in a variety of expressions: song, dance, crafts, food shows, cultural presentations, agricultural fairs and local entrepreneurial endeavors.
The common thread however, are Boholanos, unified in purpose surviving through judicious and creative use of its natural endowments, this year’s Sandugo organizers said.
The Sandugo creative industry fair opens 6 pavilions set up to promote Bohol’s newest 6 area clusters.
This year, the Sandugo through its fair pavilion showcases the circuits in northwestern Bohol (from Calape to Talibon), Anda Peninsula and Eastern Bohol (Ubay to Dimiao), Interior Bohol, Panglao island, Abatan River towns and Tagbilaran City.
And set as the biggest thing is an integrated promotional marketing scheme where local planners set up products showcase of new destinations and products in a one-stop creative industry agora of local agriculture, tourist products, crafts and culture.
Each tent focuses on a circuit with maps showing towns involved, crafts icons, agricultural produce, cultural assets, and tourism highlights.
It would also contain crafts display and demonstration area, display billboards showing tourism establishments, organization involved in productivity and in the creative industries as well as promotional materials and booking rates booth in a themed cluster-inspired motiff.
With the hope of establishing direct markets, organizations too set up information, sales and market linkages booths.
These showcases will be an excellent opportunity for new circuits to promote and project their products in a style that is dynamic, creative, interactive, and in an exhibit package that is coordinated and unified, despite its great diversity says fair organizers.
The show will also aim to converge in a demonstrative and narrative mode how all the line agencies converge and merge with the local NGOs and POS to jumpstart their eco-cultural visions through new, innovative and marketable community-based creative industries.
And like the old event commemorated by this festival of blood-brotherhood, the celebration also provides for a entrepreneurship talk shows and fora, cookfests, social development consultation forum to unravel July 18 –22 different venues: the Island City Mall, Bohol Quality Mall, Bohol Agricultural Promotion Center and at the MetroCenter Hotel.
