The murder of Tiptip Barangay Captain Marcelo “Amar” Epe could be linked to his refusal to cooperate in solving the financial woes bedevilling his estranged wife in relation to the human trafficking case she is facing.

This is seen as the most immediate probable link to the death threats that Epe had been receiving prior to his murder on Monday last week.

Epe died on the spot Monday afternoon after sustaining six fatal gunshot wounds in the head, chest and shoulder.

The barangay captain was gunned down after the session at around 4:20 in the afternoon last Monday while he was at a store beside his house across the covered court of their barangay.
The city police station received the report on the incident at about 4:30 p.m.

The gunmen were on board a black Honda Honda motorcycle, both wearing helmets that covered their identity.

According to SPO2 Necito Roluna of the Criminal Investigation Section of the city police, they found six empty shells of caliber. 45 at the crime scene, coinciding with the six bursts of gunfire heard by residents nearby and the six gunshot wounds seen by the medico-legal officer.

Entry wounds were seen on the left shoulder from the back where the first shot hit, then on the left chest.

Epe had already fallen on the ground when the gunman finished him with a shot on the left portion of the head below the left ear.

A few minutes prior to the incident, one of them was seen buying softdrinks at the store where the barangay captain of Tiptip was gunned down later.
Witnesses described that the perpetrators covered their faces with cloth beneath the full-face helmet with only the eyes exposed.

PInsp. Adriano Bacus, OIC of the city police and head of the intelligence section, said the barangay captain was at the store when the two suspects on board the motorcycle stopped, then the backrider alighted, approached him and fired without saying a word.

Some neighbors believed it had something to do with illegal drugs.

Bacus confirmed that the barangay captain had been known to be a drug user but was believed to have stopped since last year as he had considerably gained weight lately.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

How sad, or even ironic. For "his refusal to cooperate in solving the financial woes bedevilling his estranged wife in relation to the human trafficking case she is facing", he himself could have become a victim of human trafficking--to the next life, that is...

bahala na lang unta ang cause ani nga trahedya.  the passage of time could help recoup his reputation, whatever it is.  but for those cold-blooded murderers to be identified and brought to justice, that would mean real closure to him and his family.

this particular news report only adds to the salacious details imagined about the tragedy.  wa gyoy bag-o when compared to the previous one (http://tubagbohol.mikeligalig.com/index.php?topic=59592.0#.ULMOi2cqDrc), gawas sa first paragraph.  it's a poor attempt at keeping the public interested.

whoever is the news reporter/writer here, i wonder if he would write this way if it were his next of kin who's the subject of this tragic tale.  the same can be asked of the newspaper publisher.  our media practitioners truly have a long way to go when it comes to respecting other people's privacy and grief.  except their own.

Tinuud Islander I agree with you about the comment referring to media here....

I also thought it was poorly phrased, I have also noticed several errors in grammar over the past weeks into months..

One attorney told me a week ago never mind the complaints on grammar you were a good writer with good topics and you got your message across. And said that grammar is for school and not so common in media reporting like it use to be.....He was a teacher of law before at one of the colleges here...I thanked him....I heard he was allegedly maybe killed for other things aside from his wife......or was that just chika chika as usual...
