Michael Jackson, Dead at 50
« on: June 26, 2009, 06:44:03 AM »

The Los Angeles Times confirms that the King of Pop, 50-year-old Michael Jackson, has died after a cardiac episode in Los Angeles. Jackson was reportedly rushed to UCLA Medical Center this afternoon; paramedics reported that Jackson was not breathing when he arrived at the hospital.  NBC News and other sources have also confirmed the singer's death.

His death comes just days before the scheduled start of his 50-date tour at London's O2 Arena.  Story developing.

cnn does air some unconfirmed reports, grace, hehehe.

but in this case, its all over the news naman. though the source of AP requested not to be identified as he was not authorized to issue the statement in behalf of michael or his family.

i can't forget michael for he tought me how to appreciate and love to hear music when i was a child. Ben & I'll Be There are the songs that would always carry me back to my childhood years in Jagna, Bohol in the late 60's era.

i'm gonna play michael and the jackson 5 music all day today here in the office!

my condolence to the jackson family.

Fdaray, please dont make fun of Mr. Michael Jackson you know what I mean.

Yup, we covered that thread before.
Michael was battling MSRA (methicillin-resistant staph aureus), which if it permeats via pharyngitis, can cause acute endocarditis. Which, is what happened---in this situation.
My guess---he battled the infection; which has a 50/50 survival rate even when given Vancomycin and other 3rd gen. Cephalosporins.

Our condolences to Michael Jackson. He will be loved, and missed.

A legend, definitely, in our own time.

I can remember when i was in my younger teens---I would come back from football practice at night---and i would open the house door to hear my dad in the living room listening to either: Luthervandross, Kenny G, and other jazzy classics; as well as listening to some Michael Jackson songs.

Michael was a great guy in life, he had his own shares of imperfections, but who really is perfect? (no one). I hope his kids will grow up and know how a great artist their father was in life.

May his memory live on in our hearts and minds.
Rest in peace, Michael.

Jacko never had a normal life and oftentimes misunderstood and yet he is one of the few artists who is able to take a song reach people of all ages, races, and nationalities.

It was during our time in high school when he was at his peak with songs such as "Thriller", "Beat It", "Do You wanna Be Starting Something", "Billy Jean" (which my group used to dance to whenever there were some functions that required some entertainment). During my elementary years I could not forget "Ben" and "I Wanna Rock With You", a theme from "ET" (which I forgot the title), also "Caribbean Girl". Dang! When I was way younger and slimmer I could mimic his moves, now I don't if I don't look gross when I do those moves  :)

Hahaha... my contemporaries then would envy me when I did the moonwalk during showdowns at the Gasoline Station along CPG Ave., that's beside in what is now Metrocenter Hotel. Breakdance showdowns then were the gangs and other groups mode of fighting instead of the traditional fists fights where only the egos were bruised not our faces... :)

It is rare for a man to live in both worlds within a lifetime: meteoric rise to unparelled fame and fortune, and equally abysmal fall from grace.

No matter,  his songs will always remain in everyone's heart. Nobody ever sang and performed with impact to as wide a scope of audience.

Honestly, I sort of felt relieved that he is now finally released from all the torments of a life gone haywire.  I also say a prayer of thanks for the obscure, ordinary life that He gives you and me--in which we can more freely take gasps of comfort for the everyday pains and pitfalls of living. May he rest in peace.
