DOTr DELIVERS ON “BUILD BUILD BUILD”
Press Release: When President Rodrigo Roa Duterte assumed office in 2016, he gave a very simple yet profound marching order to his Cabinet-- MAKE THE FILIPINO LIFE MORE COMFORTABLE.
This mandate was taken by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade as a cue to push all transport sectors to begin working relentlessly to deliver transformational transport infrastructure projects.
Since July 2016, the DOTr and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) have already completed 121 airport projects, while 114 are ongoing. 75 more are to begin soon.
For the maritime sector, the DOTr and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) have already completed 424 seaport projects, while 106 are well underway, and 69 are in the pipeline.
Further, there are a total of 12 big-ticket railway projects, wherein (
rail projects are ongoing, and four (4) are set to be constructed in the future.
In the Road Transport sector, game-changing initiatives have been implemented, including the opening of the first ever Land Port, the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), the Bike Lane Network, the revitalized and more efficient EDSA with the introduction of the EDSA Busway, among others.
With all these, Secretary Tugade have consistently pushed DOTr and its attached agencies beyond their limit, executing these transformational transport infrastructure projects, thereby helping the country usher INTO THE GOLDEN AGE OF INFRASTRUCTURE.
