Definitely, they are not here to spearhead a rosary rally. Neither are they here to enjoy the pristine beaches of sunny Bohol.
One thing sure, if reports are to be believed, they are coming in to sow terror to the gullible electorate in one of Bohol’s congressional districts.
So to the uninitiated, brace for a bloody polls if indeed, guns-for-hire are in the prowl in Bohol come election time.
Up to this time, whoever hires them for any “poll duty†in May 2010, still remains to be anybody’s guess.
A little birdie told a Post mole that the presence of the dreaded Kuratong Balelengs in Bohol was sighted after a gang of 11 was confirmed to have boarded a boat from Nasipit en route to Jagna then to this city.
The 11 was supposed to be part of a 20 or so goons reportedly hired by a well-connected politician to ensure victory in the 2010 polls.
A case of satisfying the frightening requirements of guns, goons and gold, this politician was said to have built a cache of guns, piling up money or gold, and employ the services of gang men known to give no quarters to enemies real or imagined.
Three places were mentioned where these men come from. They are Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro.
The group’s apparent leader claims to be a cousin of this ranking official.
According to the same reports, the flock of Kuratongs was met by the ranking official’s male relative by affinity, and was whisked off to a faraway crag precisely to wait for the signal to strike.
Amidst the backdrop of this information, Boholanos are better advised to watch out for Cebuano speaking construction workers with a strong, definitely non-Cebuano nor Bol-anon accent. They may be your innocent-looking hard-working carpenters or masons, even heavy equipment operators by day, but are actually your regular tough guys at night, out to sow terror among those who will root for their boss’ opponents.
