Justice For Dr. Doloreich Dumaluan

A senator has called for an independent team of policemen from Camp Crame to dig deeper into the “attempted killing of former Panglao mayor Dr. Doloreich Dumaluan last August 22.

Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr. personally asked Deputy Director General Jefferson Soriano, PNP chief for operations, to “send a reliable team of officers of the PNP to Panglao to handle the investigation” into the shooting of Dumaluan.

Complaints have reached Pimentel, a PDP-Laban party-mate of Dumaluan, that Police Provincial Director Edgardo Ingking “is pressuring witnesses who have executed statements identifying those involved in the shooting of the former mayor”.

According to Pimentel, he received information from concerned individuals who have cast doubt on the credibility of the provincial commander to conduct an investigation due to his alleged meeting with the suspect of the shooting incident who is detained at Camp Dagohoy.

During that said meeting, SSupt. Ingking purportedly offered the suspect, Teodulo Macalandag, a lawyer after the latter already expressed willingness to reveal the truth about the shooting incident.

Ingking also barred Dumaluan from visiting the detention cell of Macalandag. This directive from the provincial police director however is being carried out by guards at the police headquarters who could not present a written order or memorandum to prevent the former mayor from entering the camp.

Pimentel said in his letter to General Soriano that the independent investigation should be made “to avoid any suspicions of a cover up and afford Dumaluan justice”.

Pimentel condemned the slay attempt on Dumaluan as he called on law enforcement authorities to solve the case with dispatch.

Dumaluan sustained a gunshot wound in his left shoulder when he was fired upon by his assailant, Macalandag, at his beach resort in Barangay Bolod.

The senator likewise decried the ineptness of law enforcers to arrest the wave of killings which reflects the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
