“Fel†Layao, Dedicated Media Man,
killed in fatal head-on accident

Fel “The Hitman†Layao, 49, a long-time dedicated and well known media personality and father of three (3) ended his life unexpectedly in a road mishap between him and a passenger vehicle driven by Alvin Malmis last Thursday night August 27th, 2009 in Barangay Tinago, Dauis around 8: 00 in the evening and was pronounced dead on arrival at Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital.
Fel’ was born as Filoteo Rollenas Layao on November 5th, 1959 to he was born to Leona Rollenas and Agustin Layao from Barangay San Isidro, Bohol.
Layao attended elementary school at Balilihan Elementary School, and attended secondary school at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel High School and his college days where he graduated from Bohol institute of Technology with a Bachelor in Science with in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECS).
Last Friday, the Association of Writers and Radio Announcers Foundation, INC. and Bohol LITERARY ARTS CIRCLE/ LUBAS SA DAGANG BISAYA CHAPTER held of the Metro Tagbilaran-Bohol Chapter Tagbilaran City held an important meeting and joint resolution expressing the profound condolences to the bereaved family of family of the late Filoteo “Fel†R. Layao.
The following is the history of “Fel†Layao’s media trail that he leaves behind but not forgotten in his home place of Bohol according to his colleagues;
JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 01, SERIES of 2009
“WHEREAS, Filoteo R. Layao was an exemplary public servant, having served for almost thirty (30) years as a casual employee and regular employee of the Provincial Government of Bohol assigned at the Bohol Law Enforcement Communications System (BLECS) until his untimely demise on August 27th, 2009:
WHEREAS, Filoteo R. Layao was also active in radio broadcasting, having been a radio announcer and radio reporter of stations DYXT and DYRD;
WHEREAS, Filoteo R. Layao fondly called “Fel†by his friends was an active member of the Association Writers and Radio Foundation, Inc. (AWARFI), had been as Assistant Treasurer from 2003-2004 and its Vice President from 1999-2000 and from 2008-2009;
WHEREAS, Filoteo R. Layao served the as Public Relations Officer of the Bohol Literary Arts Circle (BLAC) from 2006-2007;
WHEREAS, Filoteo R. Layao was also active in the Lubas sa Dagang Bisaya, inc. (LUDABI). Metro Tagbilaran-Bohol Chapter, having served as its executive Vice President from 2004-2005, and Public Relations Officer from 2006-2007;
WHEREAS, the demise of Filoteo R. Layao has left a deep void in the hearts and minds of his friends and acquaintances in general and was a deep loss to the broadcast journalism in particular;
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved as it is hereby resolved by the joint General Assembly of the Association of Writers and Radio Announcers Foundation, Inc. (AWARFI), Bohol Literary Arts Circle (BLAC), and the Lubas sa Dagang Bisaya, Inc. (LUDABI), Metro Tagbilaran-Bohol Chapter in a special meeting to express profound condolences to the bereaved family of the late Filoteo R. Layao.

Bob Galero a co-worker of “Fel†from radio station DYRD AM said to his listeners over his program Democracy in Action last Friday night that no one can out do “Fel†as the best Police Beat Reporter in Bohol because of his very special techniques in how he handled his duties as a reporter.
His children said that their father was not a selfish man and proved it by giving his family all his earnings and never buying anything for himself. He knew his kids would spend his hard earned money wisely and not end up putting any of it to waste.
Fel's surviving family members include his loving wife Bibiana, his children Anna, Gerald, Angelie, Judylyn-Dante: His grandchildren are Lucille Grace and Dan Jenu amongst his other surviving relatives is two (2) nieces, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Aside from his other media membership affiliations include The Bohol Tri Media Association (BTMA) and licensed KBP national member.
Fel’s remains lay in repose at Funeral Gomez until later on this week; the family said they will announce the schedule of the interment later.
