Holy Spirit students in Disney HS Musical dance finals in HK
The call has been answered and the team to represent the country has been chosen! Five bubbly high school students from Holy Sprit School, who call their group Janssen Knights, just wanted to see if they could win that coveted trip to Hong Kong Disneyland. One of them even thought it could be her chance to meet The Jonas Brothers! So they got their moves together and asked their friends to pitch in their project!
With the support of their peers, Jessica Meñez, Czarina Jose, Krizia Duka, Lyza Torsiende, and Julia Mella came up with an exciting video that showcased their dynamic dance moves and groves shot around their school campus and sure enough, they bested many other entries! Very soon, they will represent the country in the finals of Disney Channel’s “High School Musical: My School Rocks 2008″ and dance their way to Hong Kong Disneyland to compete with other teams from Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia!
Janssen Knights made it to the final four as kids across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong watched the videos and cast their votes to decide who from the 20 semi-finalists from across the region will join the dance competition that draws inspiration from the sensational hit Disney Channel franchise.
Nearly 29,000 votes from 11 markets were cast in a span of a week with teams from Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore also making the final four. Each team comprises 4 to 5 schoolmates. The teams, two of which are all-girls (Malaysia and the Philippines) and two are co-ed (Hong Kong and Singapore), have 5 weeks to prepare, choreograph and rehearse a dance number to a medley of songs from both “High School Musical†and “High School Musical 2,†namely “We’re All in This Together,†“Work It Out,†and “All for One.â€
They all head to Hong Kong Disneyland for the much-anticipated finals on August 30 where the winning team will be awarded a money-can’t-buy, once-in-a-lifetime experience to perform live with professional casts in one of the latest park attractions at Hong Kong Disneyland, High School Musical: LIVE! In addition, all the finalist teams will also have their performances produced into a show that will air on Disney Channel across the region!
