The province which now holds a population of 1.2 million will most likely get a 4th congressional district before the 2010 elections in what could be a "convenient accommodation" for some political leaders while an additional budgetary allocation can likewise benefit the province.

The plan has been the vision of Gov. Erico Aumentado even during his term as second district representative in Congress citing that the province has sufficient number of towns that would suffice for a 4th congressional district.

Dividing Bohol's 47 towns and one city into four legislative districts qualify the basic requirement of 250,000 residents per district based on the National Statistics Office (NSO) data which showed that the province has reached 1.2 million residents.

Gov. Erico Aumentado met with Representatives Edgar Chatto, Roberto Cajes and Adam Relson Jala at the Century Park Hotel in Manila for their preliminary talks.

A highly placed source told the Chronicle last night that a more detailed discussion was made by the four top Bohol officials in an undisclosed place last Friday evening after the Christmas party of the provincial government.

The three congressmen agreed with Gov. Aumentado that the town officials and their constituency will be consulted before a bill is filed at the House of Representatives creating the 4th district.
