Foreigner to Swim from Bohol to Cebu
« on: March 25, 2013, 06:28:20 AM »
By Iste S. Leopoldo
Sun Star Cebu

In 2010, Martin Slisans swam 22 kilometers from Libertad to Moalboal. This May, he wants to do one better by swimming 34 kilometers from Bohol to Argao.

Slisans, 36, who is from Latvia, moved to Moalboal three years ago after falling in love with the beautiful countryside town.

He owned a diving business in Latvia and is now working as a scuba instructor in one of the resorts in Moalboal. He considers his adopted town to have one of the best diving spots among the 50 countries that he has visited.

“I want to promote Cebu and the Philippines to the world with this attempt I will be making,” said Slisans, who is planning to seek the support of the Department of Tourism for this endeavor.

Slisans added that this time, he will be using a specialized suit because the last time he did it, the skin on his back peeled off and he developed hypothermia for being in the water for so long.

Slisan said that he will start by 4 a.m. and expects to finish the grueling swim in 17 hours provided the current won’t be that strong.

“I will be waiting for him in Argao,” said his doting wife Laura.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

for those of a certain vintage, circa 1970s, sa panahon nga wa pay fastcraft plying cebu-bohol...

(this act is believable; i know europeans, especially germans, act on impulse to help anyone in distress.  that's simply part of who they are, regardless of history.)

anyways, niabot kuno ang german tourist sa tagbilaran to a hero's welcome.  ang ginikanan sa babaye andam pod ug kiha sa lalaki.

tinuod ba ning nahitabo?  anybody here who can separate fact from fiction?  mahiluna na gyod akong kalag if i get to know the truth here.  my reason is simple; ako ning i-estorya bisan ni kinsa nga foreign tourist nga akong makaila nga moadto ug bohol, labi na ug among guests, hehe.

kun tblander man galing tong lakiha (heaven forbid), pasayloa na lang ko; holy week bitaw karon.  sure hinoon ko nga di to si hubag o bugsay o chongki kay dakog puruhan nga mga pizot pa to sila atong panahona.  samokan pa ug mga babaye kay mas gusto pa ug jolernz.  as for lorenz, no sweat.  nag-utaw-utaw ka pa sa cosmos ato.
