It was raining almost everyday when I was in Tagbilaran, and I actually saw the flooded streets. In fact, on our way to HNU Elementary School with my daughter, she was laughing hard when I told her the tricyle would soon turn into a boat as we approached a depressed strip of the road brimming with floodwater. I could imagine that Dao, being an elevated area, is actually better off than the other parts of the city.
Being touted as the No. 1 ecotourism site in the country, Bohol should address this drainage problem with urgency.
There should also be garbage boxes in public places. I was surprised that local tourists were just mindlessly throwing away food wrappers and other garbage on the street along the Loboc River. All that trash will certainly find themselves flowing downstream on rainy days.
